Custom Fireplace Screens & Doors 3-Easy-Steps |

This is a factory built prefabricated zero clearance fireplace with a stone facing and our customer has requested to see how the Brookfield ZC doors will look (see second set of options). We have determined that the Brookfield ZC will not work for this fireplace because the stone at the top overhangs the firebox opening (see image at bottom of page). So we have created examples of the Stiletto ZC door, which will be more appropriate and safe. The Stiletto ZC is an inside fit door that is made with a 1/4" gap all around the frame so that air is allowed to flow into the outer walls of the fireplace to meet code. No mortar is used in this application, making the installation easier.
Supplied measurements:
The stone measures 41 3/4" wide by 21 1/8" high. The Black opening measures 42 1/8" wide by 21 1/5" high.
Recommended make to size:42 5/8" W x 20 5/8"H
Note: If the black metal at the bottom is higher than the hearth, we will need to make the height that distance less.
After further review, it was brought to our attention that the stones across the top of the opening are lower than the actual metal opening of the fireplace. When this is the case, we cannot install a door like this because it can cause issues with heat build-up behind the stone at the top. So these examples will not work on this particular application, but for others who have a similar fireplace where the stone work does not extend beyond the face of the fireplace opening, these options may be viable.
The stone measures 41 3/4" wide by 21 1/8" high. The Black opening measures 42 1/8" wide by 21 1/5" high. The stone at the top is lower than the black. The fact that fireplace fascia comes down below the actual metal firebox opening may prohibit us from being able to make any doors for this fireplace. This has to do with the ability to block the heat from transferring vertically between the fascia material and the front face of the fireplace.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
