Customer Comments: Hi, I am interested in getting a glass door with screen for fireplace. The ones that I am interested in are below with the dimensions. I am looking for a light color frame, light gray or satin nickel finish. I do not want a wide frame but want a good fit. Examples of doors: Silhouette Custom Fireplace Doors (Masonry Or ZC), Shadow Custom Fireplace Doors (Masonry Or ZC).

Our Comments: The doors you have selected are excellent choices for your fireplace. Due to the irregularities in the stone facing, the door will need to be fit inside the opening made about 1/2" less in width and 1/4" less in height. This will leave a gap of about 1/4" on the top and sides that will need to be filled with mortar or grout. We have created examples of the two doors you liked that are aluminum frames and added the Carolina door which is a 3/16" thick solid steel frame.

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

Picture #1: With your camera sideways, take a picture directly in front of the fireplace from far enough away to see the entire fireplace floor to ceiling like this.

 Picture #2: With your back to the fireplace, take a picture looking straight out into the room so we can see the decor directly in front of the fireplace.

Please remove all objects from in front of the fireplace opening before you take your pictures (existing screen, plants or anything else). If you have an existing glass door, take pictures with the doors open and closed.
Once I recieve your pictures, I will create several mockups and post them to a project page and send you a link to view and them with others for their input. I will follow up with you to discus your project, quote prices and help you choose the treatment that suits you best.
