Glass Doors for Ledger Stone Fireplace - Project 10333

Customer Comments: I am interested in your Savanna series fireplace doors with mesh. I have a masonry fireplace that is 35 1/2 in. Wide by 24 in High. I am enclosing the five photos to create a photo simulation of your doors on my fireplace. I am considering the Rustic Black, Textured Black and Ancient Age colors or other suggestions you might have. I believe I will need the SV36255 doors with gate mesh, but let me know if this is the closest fit.

Our Comments: Due to the irregular surface of the stone, we cannot recommend using the stock size Savannah door that you are requesting. It is made to overlap the fireplace opening, and the irregularities of your stone facing will cause there to be large gaps between the frame and the stone. In cases such as yours, we always recommend an inside fit with some mortar to fill the gap, which requires a custom made door. We have created several examples for you to consider.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
