Customer Comments: Comment: Hi, We are interested in a fireplace screen very much like this one (see example below). Our fireplace opening is 41" wide by 27" high. Could you give me a rough idea of what it might cost?
Our Comments: The screen you have referenced is pictured below. This screen would be made to fit inside your opening leaving 1/4" to 1/2" gap that you would need to be filled with mortar.

These doors are hand crafted by skilled artisans from Solid Brass or Steel, depending on the finish that is desired. Very high end, and very refined. Items made from solid brass come in a wide variety of hand crafted patinas and other finishes. Satin Nickel finishes done on solid brass are the finest quality and will not rust like plated steel.

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.
Option #2A: Design Specialties Stiletto Cutback Fireplace Mesh Screen Door in Satin Nickel (Brushed Aluminum).
Option #2B: Design Specialties Stiletto Cutback Fireplace Mesh Screen Door in Candlelight Brass (Brushed Aluminum). This door cannot be made with night shields.
This door is made from 3/16" thick solid steel and is laser cut then powder coated. The Candlelight brass finish is difficult to replicate but is in between a brass and antique brass finish. It is a semi-glossy finish. We can provide a sample if necessary.
Option #3: Design Specialties Legend Steel Mesh Screen Door in Candlelight Brass. This door can be made with Night Shields that slip in behind the mesh.

Fig #3 - Lintel. This shows the lintel drops down about 1/2" from the top stones and is recessed about 1 1/2".
Fig #4 - Bottom where height measurement was taken. This shows how the hearth inside is lower than the hearth outside.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
