Our Comments: For a stacked stone fireplace like yours we recommend having the door made to fit inside the opening. We would make the door roughly 1/4" smaller on the top and each side and the gap would need to be filled with grout or mortar. You can overlap the stones, but you will see gaps on the sides as some of the stones stick out further than others. If using an overlap fitting door, we recommend one with a wider frame to help hide those gaps.
