Customer Comments: We are looking for a replacement for our fireplace glass doors that is 39" w x 22" high. The fireplace surround will be replaced with tiles. We have an arts and crafts style aesthetic. I'd prefer a bronze rubbed color.
Our Comments: We have selected a couple options for glass doors that can be made with side vents in a crafts style in bronze. We have also included a couple ideas for remodeling this fireplace. One thing we noticed is the mantel is very high and separated from the fireplace due to the raised hearth. We have provided a couple solutions to this problem in the mockups below.
Fireplace Opening: 39" W x 22" H
These doors are made from laser cut steel and can be installed directly to the fireplace before the tile is done or overlapping the tile after it is done. Installing the doors overlapping the tile eliminates any concerns about the edges of the edges of the cut tile being exposed around the opening and allows for more room for error. This type of door must be left open when burning a fire.
These doors are also made from laser cut steel but must be installed before the tile is done. Notice how we have added a grout line around the door in these mockups. More care must be taken with the exposed edges of the tile around the opening. However, you can burn a fire with these doors closed.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
