Customer Comments: I saw your website. I am interested in the mesh screen. C92 plain bar. The dimensions for our fireplace are approx 35 wide x 29 high, measured inside
Our Comments: Not sure what finish is appropriate for your room so we have provided a few options.
Fireplace Opening: 35" W x 29" H
The C92 has a 1 3/4" Wide (or wider) x 3/16" Thick bar that mounts directly to the lintel either flush with the bottom of the lintel or overlapping the top edge of the lintel 1/4". A wider bar may be necessary if you wish for the bar to fit right under to the top row of bricks. The mesh hangs about 1" behind the bar, so it will be important to make note of where the ash dump is located when measuring. Available in a wide variety of finishes and trims to compliment your decor. We recommend adding a bottom bar (F92) to help prevent logs from rolling out onto the hearth. You can also add a "Pet Deterrent Channel" to the bottom bar to prevent pets and small children from getting into the fireplace (see detail below).
The outside mount screen is another option that keeps the entire mesh mechanism outside the fireplace. This may be necessary if the ash dump mechanism prevents the mesh curtains from hanging freely inside the fireplace. Made with a 1 1/2" angle iron.
Frame screens with mesh curtains are a more decorative option with the same functionality as a Bar & Mesh. These can be made as 3-Sided or 4-Sided screens. 4-Sided screens prevent logs from rolling out and can accommodate the Pet Deterrent Channel.
H1: Height from outside hearth to bottom of bricks
H2: Height from inside hearth to bottom of bricks
Lintel Thickness - Bottom of lintel to bottom of bricks
W1: Width between top bricks
W2: Width between bottom bricks
Ash Dump Location: How far back from the opening is the ash dump?
The Pet Deterrent Channel illustrated above helps prevent pets and small children from pushing the mesh inward and getting into the fireplace. This can be added to the F92 bottom bar, which also prevents logs from rolling out into the fireplace. When installing a bar and mesh, it is always a great idea to add the matching F92 bottom bar with the Pet Deterrent Channel.
Use your imagination to create the perfect fireplace screen with these solid brass castings from Stone Manufacturing. Compliment architectural details in the mantel or other furnishings in our home, or simply create your own unique look. Available in a wide variety of finishes.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
