Glass Doors for Arched Stone Fireplace - Project #11371

Customer Comments: Legend PLAIN Arch #62Custom Fireplace Glass Doors, standard, full view twin doors, BLACK MESH CURTAINS OR Buckingham Custom Arch Custom Fireplace Glass Doors (Masonry Only) #64 WITH BLACK MESH CURTAINS.

Our Comments: Here are mockups of the two doors you requested with a couple more additions. These would be made with a slightly wider 2" to 2 1/2" wide frame in order to cover the uneven edges of the stone. Adding mesh curtains to an arched door is not possible because there would be no way to open them since the mesh would be longer in the middle than at the sides. It may be possible to install a mesh curtain separately behind the opening if there is a rectangular space behind your stone. We included an example of how that works.

Fireplace Opening: 34" W x 27" H (sides) x 33" H (center)

Medium Range Steel Doors

Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.

High End Hand Crafted Solid Brass

These doors are hand crafted by skilled artisans from Solid Brass or Steel, depending on the finish that is desired. Very high end, and very refined. Items made from solid brass come in a wide variety of hand crafted patinas and other finishes. Satin Nickel finishes done on solid brass are the finest quality and will not rust like plated steel.

Frameless Door
FLD-1 Frameless Fireplace Door Option #4: Stone Manufacturing FLD-1 Frameless Arched Fireplace Door with Flat Black Frame and Antique Brass Hardware. Shown with Clear Glass and Mesh Curtains (if possible). There is no frame around the glass on this door, providing a unique contemporary look.

Mesh Curtains

Here's how mesh curtains would look when installed separately behind the stone. There must be a rectangular area behind the stone in order to do this. Please provide a picture taken from inside the fireplace looking up from behind the stone so we can see if it is possible to install the curtains (see example below).

Mesh Curtains
Mesh Curtains Option #5: Stone Manufacturing C92 Hidden Bar and Mesh. This would be purchased and installed separate from the door.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
