Modern Free Standing Screens for Corner Fireplace - Project #11386

Customer Comments: Good morning, I am looking for a custom corner fireplace SCREEN box NO glass, for a clients fireplace. I need something very modern and clean. I want it to lay flat when it closed, no pleating from the screen, but the doors won't work either because they are too dated in style. I was thinking two screens that stand alone. Does that make sense? Thank you.

Our Comments: A free standing screen normally has rear feet or stabilizers that allow the screen to stand by itself when moved away from the fireplace when tending the fire. The floor inside this fireplace is raised about 1" above the hearth, which prevents the screen from fitting flush to the fireplace with rear stabilizers. If you want the screen to lay flat to the fireplace, you cannot use the stabilizers and will need to lean the screen against something when it is moved. If stabilizers are used, the screen will stand about 2" to 3" away from the fireplace. We have created mockups showing both options.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
