Doors for Large Full Arch Fireplace - Project #11394

Customer Comments: Hi, We are looking at a fireplace screen for our community center. The arc is 37" tall at the center point and 72" wide. We are looking at doors with screen or possibly glass.

Our Comments: We have provided mockups of 3 alternatives. Please keep in mind that due to the large size of the fireplace, we cannot produce mockups with the proper proportaion of frame size for the fireplace. The frames would be about half as wide as what is shown. Please see the "Correct Proportion" illustration for details about this.

Correct Proportion

The mockups above show the frames around the screens and doors about double the actual size, which is not correct. This is due to the fact that we had to stretch an existing product photo of an arched screen that was about half the size of your fireplace. The illustration below shows how that original photo looks in actual proportion to your fireplace, giving you a better perspective of the true frame width.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
