Inside Fitting Glass Doors for Corner Fireplace - Project #11395

Customer Comments: It is a real wood fireplace but since we live in FL we don't plan to have many fires. As long as we can get logs through the doors it should be fine. It appears that your mock-up is flush with the surface of the rock and we like that design. The sliding doors seem like a good match to that flush look. We also like the iron finish idea but it may be a bit too rustic. We are more late 1800's industrial than Game of Thrones. I would say the iron is a good fit but the finish should be consistent all over. I've attached a couple of more furniture pieces that should help.

Our Comments:

Fireplace Opening: Here are some examples of glass doors that can be custom made to fit your corner fireplace. See Below

Before
Before:

Affordable Aluminum Doors

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

Stiletto
Stiletto Fireplace Door Option #1: Design Specialties Stiletto Corner Fireplace Glass Door in Vintage Iron with Mesh Curtains. The curtain mesh cannot go beyond the edge of the corner post. Gate mesh backup doors may be advised instead. Can be burned with the doors closed.

High End Hand Crafted Wrought Iron/Steel Doors

Hand crafted doors take on a more rugged natural look with a slightly distressed finish that will better match your furniture.

Sliding Door
Sliding Fireplace Door Option #2: Stone Manufacturing SD Sliding Fireplace Door in Darkened Oil Rubbed Steel with Pitted Texture. Can also be made from real wrought iron (see sample below). This door has 2 fixed panes of glass on the right and left sides and 2 sliding panes in the center. Must be burned with the doors open.
Solid Brass
HLD Corner Fireplace Door Option #3: Stone Manufacturing HLD Bifold Corner Door in Darkened Oil Rubbed Steel with Pitted Texture. These doors fold outwards for much easier access to building a fire. Must be burned with the doors open.

Oil Rubbed Steel
Wrought Iron Finish Sample #2: Stone Manufacturing Darkened Wrought Iron. This is real forged wrought iron with a real forged texture more like your furniture. Quite a bit more expensive than steel.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
