Glass Doors for Arched See Through Fireplace - Project #11413

Customer Comments: We are interested in installing fireplace doors for our see-through fireplace. Currently, the draft is not sufficient, so when the logs are burning down (before the fire goes out) the room fills with smoke. Please note the existing glass on the "dining room" side of the fireplace. Thank you very much.

Our Comments: Here are two examples showing an outside and inside fit application. Please be aware that we cannot guarantee the safety of the existing dining room glass pane as it may not be able to handle the heat when the fireplace doors are closed. Our recommendation is always to have glass doors on both sides to limit the possibility of the glass shattering and to create a more even draft when the fire is burning.

Medium Range Steel Doors

Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.

Glass Doors with Smoke Protection

These options are best to help reduce smoke from coming into the room. Insulation can be provided to go between the subframe and bricks around the opening to help prevent smoke from coming out around the frame. Tight fitting doors can also provide a better seal between each glass pane. A combination of these alternatives can be used.
