Customer Comments: This is for a master bedroom fireplace. Want glass door screen which will provide minimal obstruction to viewing the gas logs. Assume I also need a mesh curtain screen - need one that can be pushed to the side when the fire is not in use. Would like to retain the brass andirons that are seen in the photo (but would move them closer to the center). There is a bad draft that comes down this fireplace so the main purpose is to try to suppress that draft. Will need to retain access to the pilot light/burner control in the lower right corner of the fire box. Not sure but think I want a simple black frame. Looking forward to receiving your suggestions.
Our Comments: As we discussed in our email exchange, the glass doors will not work with your andirons unless you can push them back into the fireplace or cut the shanks so they can stand out in front of the doors. So here are some other options that do not have glass doors. This is how we would treat a fireplace like yours to maintain the Traditional style created by your brass andirons. If you prefer a polished brass finish, we can actually have your andirons refinished as we are showing in one of the examples.

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
