Customer Comments: Hello I'm interested in designing screen doors or curtains for my gas fireplace opening. The design that I'm looking for is one where the screens doors or curtains are on a metal frame on all four sides. The color should be flat black. Please note that the fireplace is a wood burning fireplace that was converted by using a gas insert.
Our Comments: We have several manufacturers that can make what you are asking for from various materials and quality. Here are some examples.
Fireplace Opening: 40" W x 30" H
Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.
These doors are hand crafted using superior materials including solid brass latches for superior action and durability. They also have a Pseudo Clearview option with a less noticeable center frame and fine weave mesh to maximize the view of the fire.
These unique bifold doors feature two sets of doors. The outer doors have a laser cut patter without any mesh. There is a second single panel mesh door behind the decorative doors, so you can open the decorative pattern and have a full view of the fire, or keep them closed for ambiance. There are many different patterns to choose from. If you like this concept, we can share other patterns.
This frame screen has a 2" wide solid steel frame with sliding mesh curtains
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
