Customer Comments: We are looking for fireplace doors for our living room fireplace. Attached are the three photos you requested on your website. This fireplace does not have a fan therefore we cannot have full glass doors covering the opening. We would like doors that open in the middle and have some scroll work on each side. If possible, we would like to have a simple stained glass feature in the center or at the top of the doors, with the rest of the space being just the metal scroll work, no glass. Perhaps a diamond (as in the tile), simple flower or star for the stained glass. We don't think bronze or gold tones work in this room as the fireplace mantel is painted in a gray tone. Perhaps a steel gray would look best.
The fact that your fireplace has a blower does not impact whether or not you can add a glass door that closes off the fireplace. The main reason for glass doors is to close the doors when you are not burning a fire in order to keep cold air from coming into your home when the fireplace is not being used. Also, we cannot add stained glass to a fireplace door since it would get too hot and melt the lead that is used when making stained glass. It would certainly be a beautiful choice, but just not one that I have ever seen done.
With that said, I have taken what you requested and interpreted it the best I can without actually using stained glass. Both of the examples below have glass in all of the panes with some decorative scrollwork. If you do not necessarily want glass, we can make them with a wire mesh or without any glass or mesh if you just want it for looks and are not concerned about the draft.
Fireplace Opening: 38" W x 25" H
These are exclusive one-of-a-kind designs I have created just for you. The doors would be made from 3/16" thick solid steel with the patterns laser cut.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
