Our Comments: There are several ways to treat this fireplace. We have created quite a few mockups to illustrate them.
Fireplace Opening: 45" W x 24 3/4" H
Before:
These screens would be made to overlap the outer opening 1/2" on the top and each side.

These screens would be made to fit recessed 1/4" smaller than the outer opening on the top and each side.

These screens would be made to fit inside the inner opening 1/4" smaller on the top and each side.

Mesh curtains hang from a header bar mounted to the top that can be flush with the opening or recessed so the screen hangs all the way to the bottom or fully inside the inner opening.
Option #11: Stone Manufacturing C92 Mesh Curtain with Solid Brass Hand Hammered Header Bar in Polished Chrome and Right Hand Side Tassels with Pullies. Shown mounted flush with the outer fireplace opening.
