Customer Comments: I'm interested in a modern or contemporary flat black or hi gloss black finish fireplace door with glass, no mesh, in probably a bifold door, though a two door non-folding type design may work (I think that having the open door hanging out past the side of the fireplace will bother me though which is why the bifold may be preferable). I'd like the handles to be vertical which I believe means that the glass doors need to be framed, or at least a bar on each side down the middle for the handles to attach to.
I'm thinking that a basic frame with framed doors will work, but there may be some type of modern design (possibly something like your Project #11524 but without the rustic look and with a bit thicker frame around the glass as a basic design, maybe with some straight metal lines near the edges as an alternative like your Project #11517 but, again, in black with modern handles and glass no mesh) that might add some drama.
I don't have a preference as to the material used but cost may end up determining that. I am having a gas log installed just FYI and the current metal mesh curtains will be removed. The opening is 35" wide, 26" high at the top of the arch, 20.5" high at each side. The brick surrounding the fireplace opening is 3.375" wide. We would like to maximize the amount of the brick surround that shows.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.

Please remove all objects from in front of the fireplace opening before you take your pictures (existing screen, plants or anything else). If you have an existing glass door, take pictures with the doors open and closed.
Once I recieve your pictures, I will create several mockups and post them to a project page and send you a link to view and them with others for their input. I will follow up with you to discus your project, quote prices and help you choose the treatment that suits you best.
