Customer Comments: Hello, We have a cabin fireplace and are interested in a tempered glass and blower system. Could you give us an idea whether this will work? And if so an approximate cost?
Our Comments: As we discussed in our email, the fireplace is too shallow for the blower system to work. Here are some mockups showing glass doors. Fitting the doors inside requires the mortar to be used to fill the gap between the frame and the stone, which will create a much tighter seal. Overlapping the stones will create gaps around the sides that may or may not be acceptable depending on how irregular the stones are. If you can provide side view pictures of the opening from both sides, it will help us determine if an overlap fit is appropriate. We recommend doors with a wider frame when doing an overlap fit and a narrower frame when fitting inside.

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.
