Customer Comments: Hi, Fire place opening dimensions are W 38-1/2" x H 20-1/8". Looking for a fire place door with a 4" frame on left, right and top.
Our Comments: Outdoor fireplace doors must be made from special materials such as aluminum or stainless steel. A 4" wide frame will require stainless steel. We assume you want a wide frame to help hide the irregularities in the stone. For fireplaces like yours, we actually recommend using a narrow frame and fitting the door inside, filling the gaps with mortar. On the stainless steel doors, we recommend pyro-ceramic glass so that you can burn a fire with the doors closed. The Aluminum doors can be burned closed with the normal tempered glass. We can explain this over the phone.

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

These doors are made from laser cut stainless steel, so the outer frame can be however wide you want it. The stainless steel can be brushed stainless or any number of powder coat finishes.
