Sliding Mesh Curtain Screens for Large Traditional Brick Fireplace - Project #11617

Customer Comments: Hello Erick, Ideally, we want a framed door with sliding mesh screen. Sliding mesh screen is top priority. We would like to hide the light brick either with side panels, or with the mesh when the sliding mesh is open. The red bricks in the front can and will be replaced by something black to match the fake ash in the bottom of the fireplace. I had looked at project number 10818 and liked Savannah, bungalow, and Carolina. I think they are quite similar?

Our Comments: Here are some mockups showing full framed mesh curtain screens without glass. These can be attached to the fireplace or made with legs as free standing screens. We also incorporated a black metal plate you can use to replace the bricks. We suggest painting the interior of the fireplace black as an option to help hide the lighter bricks on the sides.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
