Screens Made to Fit a Relatively Flat Stone Fireplace - Project #11627

Customer Comments: Hi there. The opening varies a lil, approximately 38 x 24 tall. Surface mount I think will be best. I'm a craftsman/cabinet builder by trade, so I have a good idea to install and how I would mount it and all that. Probably mount on the face to to rock with some nice hardware or something. So overall size would be approximately 40 x 26. Thank you.

Our Comments: Screens and doors that overlap the opening will have "L" brackets on the back that get mounted to the bricks inside the fireplace, so you do not have to drill into the hard stone. The free standing screens can be mounded to the hearth or with clamps that do not require drilling. Although you have requested black as the preferred finish, we believe natural iron is an alternative that should be considered as it compliments the decor and rough stone quite nicely. All items shown in Natural Iron can also be painted black.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
