Fireplace Screens for Large Rumford Fireplace - Project #11632

Customer Comments: I have a Rumford fireplace - dimensions are 62" width and 48"height. I am interested in a simple Single Panel Screen. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks!

Our Comments: Here are some examples of free standing screens made to fit your fireplace. Keep in mind that a single panel screen must be move aside and set on the hardwood floor when tending the fire, so they are not the most convenient type of screen if you are going to be using the fireplace. We have presented a few alternatives that are a bit more functional.

Mesh Curtains

Sliding Mesh Curtains are great for large Rumford fireplaces. They are easy to use and super convenient. We can have them made as a bar and mesh or a framed screen. When ordering a bar and mesh, we recommend adding a bottom bar to prevent logs from rolling out of the fireplace. A pet deterrent channel can be added to the bottom bar for frame to help prevent pets and toddlers from getting into the fireplace.

Fireplace Doors

Fireplace doors can have wire mesh, glass or both. These are very convenient as you just open and close them when tending the fire. The glass doors can be closed as the fire dies out, which keeps the hot air in the home.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
