Glass Doors for See Through Stone Fireplace - Project #11646
Customer Comments:
Hello I am looking to get some fireplace doors for this masonry fireplace that currently Burns wood. I am thinking about going to gas logs in the future, but want to explore options for running wood in it currently with the doors shut and also have vents for air at the bottom to help with draft. I have tried burning it with no doors and currently get smoke inside the house from being a see-through. What options do I have?
Our Comments: It appears that your stones are not too irregular, so you may be able to do an overlap fitting door. You can also choose to fit the doors inside the opening and fill the gaps with mortar. This will provide a much tighter seal, but is a more difficult installation. We have created mockups showing doors made both ways.
