Our Comments: For a large fireplace like yours that is over 100 years old, we recommend using mesh curtains with an I-Beam Track Roller system. Here are some examples:
Fireplace Opening: 72" W x 62" H

The maximum height for the mesh panels is 60". In order to make a screen this tall, we can increase the width of the header bar to at least 5" so the mesh panels can be used. We can also add a 2" wide bottom bar with a Pet Deterrent Channel to help keep animals out of the fireplace and logs from rolling out onto the hearth.

The Pet Deterrent Channel illustrated above helps prevent pets and small children from pushing the mesh inward and getting into the fireplace. This can be added to the F92 bottom bar, which also prevents logs from rolling out into the fireplace. When installing a bar and mesh, it is always a great idea to add the matching F92 bottom bar with the Pet Deterrent Channel.
