Arched Glass Doors for Large Stone Two-Sided Fireplace - Project #11664

Customer Comments: Dear Sir or Madame: Please refer to the attached photo. I would like a quote for a black arched fireplace screen with glass doors. As you can see the fireplace is constructed of irregularly shaped field stone. The intent is for the screen to fit flush to the fireplace surface so I would also appreciate your advice on how to mortar that in. The width is nominally 49" and the height is nominally 40 3/8". Thanks.

Our Comments: For this application, we recommend the Legend glass door from Design Specialties, mainly be cause it can be burned with the doors open or closed. The Legend has a good variety of options for handles, hinges and finishes to suit the needs of your Early American decor. In some of the mockups, we included some very functional fireplace accessories made by Pilgrim that we think would compliment the doors.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
