Stone Manufacturing makes a very high end product. The screens are laser cut steel, but what separates them from other brands is the finish. They are very refined and require plating and then hand finishing using multi-step processes that produce a natural looking patina befitting homes with fine furnishings. The finish is protected by a proprietary low sheen baked enamel finish for lasting durability around heat. Rather than welding the mesh to the frame, the mesh is sandwiched to the back of the frame with a secondary frame, thus allowing the mesh to be easily be replaced if damaged. Although these screens can be made with a 1" wide frame, a 2" frame is recommended for this size for added strength to prevent twisting. Each mockup is depicted with a 2" frame. 6" long rear stabilizers are included with each screen.

Standard stabilizers are 3" long. We can make these 6" to 8" long and use a 2" wide frame at the bottom to allow them to clear the inner fireplace floor. It's also possible for you to drill a 1/2" wide hole about 3/4" to 1" deep in the firebrick and drive the screw on the stabilizer down so that it sets in the hole. When the screen is removed, it will be stable as the set screw will be at or near floor level. Drilling the hole is only recommended with gas logs. If the logs are ever removed and real wood is burned, the holes must be filled.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
