Glass Doors With Wide Surround Trim - Project #20011

Customer Comments: We have a coral wall that has an arched wood burning fireplace top. We want to grind down the arched brick level with the rest of the coral and create a surround that is large enough to cover that arch. We want just a wide 4-sided surround with glass doors. We are removing the hearth step but in the pic it hasn't been removed yet. Simple and modern is what we want. Can you do something like that?

Our Comments: After our subsequent email communications, here are the mockups for the final concepts in 3 finishes.

Fireplace Opening: ~40" W X 22" H (sides) x 24" H (center)

Steel Doors with Surround Frame

These doors are laser cut from a single sheet of steel or stainless steel. The door hinges are attached to the surround frame for a clean, finished look. Because this is a Zero Clearance fireplace, there will be a 1/4" gap between the left and right outer panes of glass and the outer door frames to help prevent the fireplace from over heating.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
