Screens and Doors for Stacked Stone Fireplace Raised in the Wall - Project #20034

Customer Comments: The fire dogs stick out proud from the front of the fire place ~2". Fireplace size: 42" wide 35" tall I'm thinking of a slightly curved fireplace screen.

Our Comments: Below are several types of curved screens that may work. Bowed Screens may or may not work depending on where the andirons stand proud. We will need to know the position of the andirons relative to the opening to make the determination. There is no concern with the other types of screens shown.

Fireplace Opening: 34" W x 29" H

Bowed Screens

Bowed Screens may or may not work depending on where the andirons stand proud. The bow may not be enough near the outer edges to clear the andirons. So we would need to know the position of the andirons relative to the opening.

Bowed
Bowed Screen Option #1: Hearth Creations Iron Age-2 Bowed Screen with Hammered Texture in Matte Black. This screen has perforated mesh which is heavy gauge, but obscures the fire more than typical mesh.
Bowed
Bowed Screen Option #2: Stone Manufacturing Hand Forged Wrought Iron Bowed Screen with Hammerred Edges and Rivet Corners in Dark Bronze. This is a very high end piece made by a blacksmith.

Spark Guards

Spark Guards have more of a curve on the ends and straighter accross the front than a typical bowed screen. These would be perfect for this application.

Bowed
Nursary Fender Spark Guard Option #3: Stone Manufacturing NF-1 Nursary Fender Spark Guard. Made from Solid Brass in Flat Black.
Bowed
Wrought Iron Spark Guard Option #4: Stone Manufacturing WI-SG Hand Forged Wrought Iron Spark Guard. We cannot create a mockup of this screen since the photo was taken from the side. This can be made in Natural Iron, Dark Bronze, or Matte Black. Very high end.

3-Fold Screens

Folding screens are a great option for a fireplace where the andirons stand proud.

Bowed
3-Fold Screen Option #5: Hearth Creations Plain Steel 3-Fold Screen in Matte Black.
Bowed
3-Fold Screen Option #6: Hearth Creations Iron Age-6 3-Fold Screen with Wrought Iron Detail in Matte Black.
Bowed
3-Fold Screen Option #7: Stone Manufacturing WI-3P30M Hand Forged Wrought 3-Fold Screen in Dark Bronze. Very high end, made by a blacksmith.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
