Customer Comments: Hello Greg, Thank you for the call. We have been having rainy weather. This weekend it if finally beautiful. I am sending photos of the outdoor fireplace. I am sending photos of the outdoor fireplace. We are looking for a screen that will withstand the elements for many years to come. The front gets a large amount of smoke coming out the front. Thank you.
Our Comments: Below is a variety of options in the 3 materials we discussed: Stainless Steel, Solid Brass and Zinc Coated Wrought Iron. Wrought Iron and Solid Brass are the very best, but they can get very expensive. I also included a glass door that has a built-in smoke guard. All of thes us stainless steel mesh.
Fireplace Opening: 39" W x 32" H (center) x 26" H (sides)
Single panel screens are the least expensive. They are also the least convenientmust because they msut be moved out of the way whenver you are tending the fire.
Free standing screen doors are convenient, but slightly unstable when you open and close them. There are ways to attach them temporarily to the fireplace for added stability.
Attached doors are the convenient as they are perfectly stable and easier to open and close. They are also the most expensive option. These can be made with mesh doors only, or with glass doors that have mesh doors behind them. We can also add a Smoke Guard to the back side of the frame on the stainless steel models.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
