Customer Comments: Hi Greg, I am looking for a quote on some custom fireplace doors for my outside fireplace. I attached a few images of my fireplace in the room. We have wire folding curtain that I absolutely hate and I feel is very unsafe. I'm looking for something simple to replace that will be secure. To match the existing design or possibly black to match the furniture in the room.
Our Comments: There are 3 types of door frames for your outdoor fireplace: Aluminum, Stainless Steel and Stainless Steel made to cover the entire fireplace. Please read the comments in the headings regarding each type.
Fireplace Opening: Unknown
These particular aluminum doors can be made for outdoor fireplaces with stainless steel hardware. They can burned with the doors open or closed closed. They are limited to cabinet doors only and cannot be made with individual glass panels exceeding 4 square feet.
Hearth Creations stainless steel doors are specifically made for outdoor ZC fireplaces. They cannot be burned with the doors closed. The stainless steel can be made in natural brushed stainless or in Powder Coat Finishes.
Stainless steel doors from Design Specialties are more expensive, but they can be burned with the doors closed. They can be made in the same configurations as the 3 Hearth Creations doors above.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
