Before:
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.

Option #5B: Design Specialties Legend Glass Door with 1 1/2" Sides and 4" Top in Classic Bronze with and Bronze Glass.
Option #6: Design Specialties Mantel Fireplace Glass Door with 1 1/2" Side Frame and 5 1/2" Top Frame in Espresso with Bronze Glass. Shown with Design Specialties 4" Thick x 8" Deep Steel Mantel Shelf in Matching Espresso Finish.
This door is made from 3/16" thick solid brass with a solid brass Mini Crown Molding trim that matches the bollection molding of the mantel. This is very high end and quite expensive, but the richness of the solid brass material and possible patina finishes is unmatched.
Option #7: Stone Manufacturing DF1G-MCM Solid Brass Fireplace Door with Mini Crown Molding Trim in Antique Bronze with Bronze Glass. Shown with Hearth Creations 3" Thick Steel Mantel Shelf in Antique Bronze Finish. Finishes complement each other but are not an exact match.
