Customer Comments: Hi Greg, I am looking for stainless steel screen doors for my outdoor door fireplace. It is a 42" Astria Tuscan, The frame opening is 42 inch long and 24 inch tall. I have included pics with tape measure in view. I would like to see a quote for a pair that fit into the available holes and clips in hole on the top. Look forward to hearing from you. We are eliminating the curtain screen. These could be bifold or two 21 inch doors.
Our Comments: We do not sell the factory made doors that fit into the pin holes. We sell custom made doors that are much more heavy duty and attractive. These come in 3 different materials that can handle the elements outdoors: Aluminum (least expensive), Stainless Steel and Zinc Coated Wrought Iron. Here are examples of each material:
Fireplace Opening: 42" W x 21" H
Aluminum is the least expensive material. These doors are made to overlap the stainless steel fireplace opening 3/8" on each side, so some of the stainless steel will remain exposed. This is not the most finished look, but it is the least expensive.
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut, so they can be made to cover all of the stainless steel for a more finished look.
These doors are hand crafted by a blacksmith from zinc coated wrought iron with stainless steel hardware and mesh. The frame is custom made to cover all of the exposted stainless steel for a more finished look. Very high end and expensive.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
