Customer Comments: Greg, I want to replace the wood box mantel, I think it is too big. The dimensions, from the outside of the stone:
Front: 85"
Left side outside edge of stone to wall: 14 1/4"
Right side outside edge of stone to wall: 25 1/4"
I would like black, 4" max thickness, width now is 8" but I would want it about 5". Thanks.
Our Comments: Here is an example of a black metal shelf that fits your description. We will need the finished size measurements of the mantel as shown in the measuring diagram.

Fig #1 - Measuring Diagram - Please provide these dimensions. We will add 1/4" to the wall width and 1/8" to the wall depth to allow 1/8" room for play around the wall. You should check the wall with a straight edge to see if it is bowed, which may require additional room for play.

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
