Customer Comments: I have an old gas log fireplace. The config is somewhat off and producing soot. We want a new log set (probably vented) and glass enclosures. We would like black in color and a very modern look. I see a wide variety of prices for log sets on the market but do not understand the differences. If you could give me a couple choices with some info on the functionality and quality differences, that would be great.
Our Comments: Below are several glass doors in price ranges from low to high. All of these door would have a fixed panel of glass on the short side. I have included a variety of gas burning alernatives. There is a wide price range with gas logs. The low end are made from cement, which will crack and crumble after a few years and have burner systems that produce a lot of soot. I sell only high end gas fires, which produce much less soot and have very realistic log details. The Lava Series Gas Logs actually have burners inside the logs, so flames come out of the logs themselves. No other gas logs on the market have this amazing feature. But, they are very expensive compared to regular gas logs.

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut. In this case, we are showing the frame made wide enough to cover the stone on the sides and bottom.
This is a very unique high end door that is great for corner fireplaces. On the front side, the left and right glass panes are fixed while the inner two panes slide left and right to open and close. The right return side is a single fixed glass pane.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
