Custom Fireplace Glass Doors - Project #20111

Customer Comments: Hello - we have a wood burning fireplace and have a mesh metal cover already but would like to add a glass cover also.

Our Comments: Your choices are very limited with this type of Zero Clearance fireplace where the black metal has been covered on the sides and top, yet left exposed at the bottom. The frame must overlap the marble and have gaps in the glass on the left and right side to allow air to flow into the fireplace for cooling. The fire must be burned with the doors open. The doors can be closed when starting a fire and as the fire dies out.

These doors are specifically designed for fireplaces like yours and can be made to overlap the marble 1/4" (or more, if desired). Because there is so much space at the bottom, we have added some accesories or faux vents to balance things out.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
