Customer Comments: The actual fireplace opening is 34"x27" It currently has an elec fireplace insert that slides in. In an effort to keep out the mold spores I have used duct tape to seal the entrance. I do not want to open it up until I have the glass front available to install. My daughter is very ill from a mild illness. There is no need for doors, just heavy glass preferably shatter proof. I will never use the fireplace again. So it doesn't need to open. If it would be possible to sink a receptacle into the brick so it would be possible to remove the screws if needed and then screw it back in place so as to not harm the brick or mortar. The backing gasket has to seal well when installed.
Our Comments: Here are examples of sealed off glass panes that can be installed using screws through the frame directly into the brick fascia. There are many decorative options in all 3 materials, but this will give you a general feel for what can be done.
Fireplace Opening: 34" W x 27" H
The frame is laser cut made from 3/16" thick solid steel and bolted directly to the fireplace. The screws will be exposed. The single door is non-operational and sealed shut with silicone.
We can have the frame hand crafted from wrought iron by a skilled blacksmith for a unique rugged look. The example below shows a sealed glass front without the appearance of a door, but we can also include faux doors that are sealed.
Use your imagination to create the perfect fireplace screen with these solid brass castings from Stone Manufacturing. Compliment architectural details in the mantel or other furnishings in our home, or simply create your own unique look. Available in a wide variety of finishes.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
