Custom Fireplace Glass Doors - Project #20168

Customer Comments: Prior owners converted wood burning fireplace to electric. Want to get a new screen. The opening roughly 37 wide and just over 29 high But want screen ro extend to 44 and 33 / surrounding rock slightly discolored right around the fireplace Black in color It's in family room off kitchen Thanks

Our Comments: Most of our steel doors are laser cut from a solid sheet of 3/16" thick steel, so the outer frame can be made to whatever width you desire. In this case, the frame needs to be about 4 3/4" wide in order to overlap 3 1/2" on the top and each side (which is basically what you are asking for). Below are some examples of doors that can be made that way in a variety of styles and price ranges.

Fireplace Opening: 36 7/8" W x 29 5/8" H
Make To Size: 44" W x 33" H

Medium Range Steel Doors

Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
