Custom Fireplace Glass Doors - Project #20196

Customer Comments: I have a non vented gas double sided fireplace in master bedroom/bathroom. I am wanting glass on bathroom side that won’t allow you to see into bathroom from the bedroom (if that's possible). Fireplace measures 33" x 18 3/8" The lip inside measure 1.5"

Our Comments: There are no fireplace glass doors that have glass that can conceal the bathroom. The only glass that can handle the heat is Pyro Ceramic, which is only available in a clear color. We can use metal doors instead, as shown in the examples below. Because this is a bathroom, there will be moisture and we recommend stainless steel for this application.

Fireplace Opening: 33" W x 18 3/8" H

Pyro Ceramic Glass Doors

Ventless gas fires produce more heat than tempered glass can handle. Ceramic glass will be necessary in this application, which can handle sustained temperatures up to 1200F degrees. Ceramic glass has rough edges (see picture below) and must be fully framed as shown in these two examples depicting framed cabinet and framed bifold doors.

Ceramic Glass
Pyro Ceramic Glass Shown Above: Pyro Ceramic Glass. Notice the rough edges. There is no way to smooth them out without breaking the glass, so it must be fully framed. There is also a very slight pinkih hue to it.

Doors with Steel Panels

These doors are made with laser cut steel and can be plain with metal door panels instead of glass. They can also have patterns laser cut into the door frames for a more decorative appeal.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
