Screens For Outdoor Stone Fireplace with Pizza Oven - Project #20205

Customer Comments: Hi, I would like to have you design a screen for our fireplace. I am looking for the screen to be free-standing with doors. Something like the picture below. Do not have a preference on the style of the door latch. The metal material can be bronze, brass, wrought iron or painted steel. The hearth is 18" x 66". Thanks!

Our Comments: Although We can make a screen similar to your example, your fireplace is much too large for it to be practical. The screen would be very unstable when you open the doors and would fall forward unless you bolted the legs to the hearth. We have created mockups showing a variety of screens and doors in a wide price range that we recommend for a fireplace like yours.

Glass Doors

Glass doors are great for outdoor fireplaces when it gets windy. Youc an close the doors and open the bottom draft to keep the fire going while preventing smoke and ashes from blowing around. These would be made to fit inside the opening with the gaps between the frame and stones filled with mortar. Made from stainless steel for outdoor fireplaces.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
