Before:
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.
Option #1A: Hearth Creations Flat Steel Bifold Fireplace Glass Door in Natural Iron with Clear Glass and Mesh Curtains.
Option #1B: Hearth Creations Standard Steel Bifold Fireplace Glass Door in Charcoal with Clear Glass and Mesh Curtains. Shown overlapping the opening. Overall Size: 39" W x 26 1/2" H.
These doors are hand crafted by skilled artisans at Stone Manufacturing from Solid Brass. Very high end, and very refined. The components come in a wide variety of hand crafted patinas and finishes as shown further below.
Option #2: Stone Manufacturing EDGE-HH-FC Hidden Hinge Solid Brass Bifold (Folding Cabinet) Door in Oil Rubbed Bronze with Clear Glass and Mesh Curtains. This door has a solid brass angle iron frame with the front edge exposed and the angle obscured behind the glass.
Option #3: Stone Manufacturing HYBRID-3 Solid Brass Cabinet Door in Weathered Brass with Clear Glass and Mesh Curtains. This door has a solid brass angle iron frame with the front edge exposed and the angle obscured behind the glass.
Option #4: Stone Manufacturing MINIMAL-1 Solid Brass Cabinet Door in Weathered Brass with Elegant 3/8" Thick Ultra-Clear Starphire Glass. This door has no frame on the sides at all, just a solid brass angle iron with the edge showing on top and bottom to hold the hardware.

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
