Customer Comments: I have a two-sided midcentury fireplace, we have cats so I want to cover both sides. I'd like to fit the screens actually just inside the openings if possible to keep the look of the fireplace very clean and prevent our cats from walking behind the screens. I would like a simple brass surround insert. measurements are slightly different for the two sides (brick is closer in on one side): side in photos: 24x46" clearance other side: 23.5x47" clearance
Our Comments: We actually recommend makeing the screens set in front of the fireplace as they are much more stable since they are leaning against the fireplace. With that said, we can make them either way. Here are examples showing both types.
Fireplace Opening
Side #1: 46" W x 24" H
Side #2: 47" W x 23 1/2" H
These screens are hand crafted by skilled craftsmen using pure solid brass. They have a proprietary baked enamel finish that is heat resistant and never requires polishing.
These screens are made from solid steel with a heat resistant gold powder coat finish.
The bar and mesh curtain screens require a bottom bar with a Pet Deterrent Channel in order to help keep cats out of the fireplace.
The Pet Deterrent Channel illustrated above helps prevent pets and small children from pushing the mesh inward and getting into the fireplace. This can be added to the F92 bottom bar, which also prevents logs from rolling out into the fireplace. When installing a bar and mesh, it is always a great idea to add the matching F92 bottom bar with the Pet Deterrent Channel.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
