Narrow Frame Glass Doors for Wide See-Through Fireplace - Project #20340

Customer Comments: Hey Greg, I'm a general contractor just quoting something for a current customer's project. They have a double-sided fireplace with two log sets that we are replacing with new log sets and updating the trim. My customer would really like the look of something like your Stilleto Fireplace Door or the Brookfield Fireplace Door with a black flat finish. Currently the picture you see shows a trim that's 2" wide at the verticals, the customer would like to stay with the same width or smaller.

Our Comments: Here are some glass doors to consider with minimal frames. I am not sure if you need gas logs, so I included some in the mockups as well. Keep in mind that gas logs must be burned with the glass doors open, but I cannot create all of the mockups that way, so you will see them with the doors closed and the fire burning, which is not correct.

Affordable Aluminum Doors

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

Medium Range Steel Doors

Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.

Flat Steel
Flat Steel Fireplace Door Option #4: PW Broadway Steel Fireplace Glass Door with No Handles in Satin Black. The door frames stand out about 1" from the inner frame (hidden behind the doors), so you can just open the doors by grabbing them. Shown with 42" Arizona Weathered Oak Charred Gas Logs.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
