Customer Comments: We will be plastering this fireplace, and will send final measurements after finish. But, are wanting a mockup and quote before proceeding with anything! Hearth will be removed, but box will remain where it is. Fixtures will be black and copper.
Our Comments: Here are the mockups I promised. I included a couple very unique doors including pocket doors and sliding doors that are great for fireplaces that are raised in the wall.

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.
Option #1: Design Specialties Brookfield Fireplace Glass Door in Rustic Black with Mesh Curtains.
Option #2: PW Crown Bullnose Fireplace Glass Door in Satin Black with Mesh Curtains.
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.
Option #3: PW Elite Fireplace Door with Satin Black Frame and Antique Copper Doors with Mesh curtains.
Option #4: PW Broadway Modern Fireplace Door with Satin Black Frame and Antique Copper Doors with Mesh curtains.
The outer two glass panes are fixed while the inner panes slide left and right to open and close. This is a great solution for fireplaces raised in the wall with gas logs.
Option #5: Stone Manufacturing SD Sliding Glass Door with Flat Black Frame and Waterfall Handles.
Pocket doors have a separate frame that must be hidden beneath the plaster. These are best for new construction or remodel jobs where the fireplace wall can be floated out to accomodate the pocket frame.

Option #6C: Shows pocket door frame installed. The frame is 3 1/2" deep. The wall around the frame must be floated out to the front of the frame.

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
