Custom Fireplace Glass Doors - Project #20366

Customer Comments: Need custom screen. I like this (see inspiration photo below), but it would need to be modified to fit the overall layout. Thinking about a sturdier construction to match the space please give me any feed back at your convenience. Thanks.

Our Comments: The fender you like was made by Virginia Metalcrafters. That company no longer exists. I have used that fender as the inspiration for a couple of the designs below.

I-Beam Track and Roller System

The I-Beam Track and Roller system is specifically designed for large fireplaces, typically over 48" wide or tall. The I-Beam is rigid and does not sag under the weight of the mesh like a typical mesh curtain rod. It is installed in the same manner as a normal bar and mesh except that instead of having rings that loop over a curtain rod, there are rollers that slide onto the track.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
