Custom Mesh Curtains for Wide Fireplace - Project #20389

Customer Comments: Hello Greg, Does your company offer custom mesh panels for fireplace ? Our fireplace is 57 wide x 22 high . Here is a photo . It is a bit distorted , but you can see the bronze metal on side of fireplace . I was hoping to not use black mesh, but something that ties into the bronze metal. Is this something your company can do? We are in Canada. Thanks.

Our Comments: Yes, we can certainly make a bar and mesh that will compliment with the bronze metal on your fireplace. Fireplaces this wide require a Track and Roller system that will not sag like a traditional mesh that hangs from a rod. Here's how that might look.

Although we do not ship to Canada, we can ship to a terminal at the border and you will need to manage getting it from there to your location.

I-Beam Track and Roller System

The I-Beam Track and Roller system is specifically designed for large fireplaces, typically over 48" wide or tall. The I-Beam is rigid and does not sag under the weight of the mesh like a typical mesh curtain rod. It is installed in the same manner as a normal bar and mesh except that instead of having rings that loop over a curtain rod, there are rollers that slide onto the track.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
