Custom Fireplace Glass Doors - Project #20420

Customer Comments: We don't use our gas fireplace often at all but it is operable. We may want to crank it up sometime in the future. The fireplace is situated in one corner of the room on an angle. I'd like to make the opening of it to look nicer and more decorative without a huge cost. I've tried the 3 fold screen but it looked too short. Because the box area is 15" above the floor area, it's been hard to find a screen that's tall enough. I do like the 1 panel screen but not sure how it'll look. I'm not sure if it should sit inside of the fireplace or on the floor ??? Thanks for your assistance.

Our Comments: Fireplaces like yours where the opening is raised off the floor creates a disproportionate look with a traditional mantel surround. Here are some options that will help create the illusion of a better proportion.

Fireplace Opening: 42" W x 22" H x 15" From Floor

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
