Customer Comments: Good morning Greg. We are in the process of remodeling our fireplace wall, which is adjacent to our kitchen/dining area. We need new bifold doors (only) and a mesh screen for our gas fireplace (we burn wood in it). Attached are the pictures you requested. Measurements follow:
Individual panes measure 8 3/4"
Total pane width (2 side by side) 17 5/8"
Total height measures 19 5/8"
The frame is still intact, so we just need the doors. Attached also is a pic of the doors that were removed from the fireplace. (One half shown). We want a clean, sleek look. No brass. Black only. Would love to see a couple mock-ups from you! Thank you so much.
Our Comments: We cannot simply replace your doors as all of the custom fireplace doors we sell come with their own proprietary frame. Some are made to fit inside he opening, while others can overlap the tile once it is complete. Overlap fitting doors will hide any irregulaties or rough edges in the tiles if they are cut around the opening.
Fireplace Opening: Unknown
Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.
If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.
We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.

Please remove all objects from in front of the fireplace opening before you take your pictures (existing screen, plants or anything else). If you have an existing glass door, take pictures with the doors open and closed.
Once I recieve your pictures, I will create several mockups and post them to a project page and send you a link to view and them with others for their input. I will follow up with you to discus your project, quote prices and help you choose the treatment that suits you best.
