Single Panel Screen
Single Panel Screen Option #2: Hearth Creations Single Panel Screen with Perforated Mesh. Perforated mesh blocks some heat and is harder to see through, but it is very rigid.

Single Panel Screen Option #3: Hearth Creations Single Panel Screen with Standard Weave Mesh and Horizontal Support Bar (required for large screens).
Single Panel Screen
Single Panel Screen Option #4: Stone Manufacturing Single Panel Screen with Heavy Gauge Mesh (does not require support bar). This is the best mesh for large fireplace screens.
Bowed Screen
Bowed Fireplace Screen Option #5: Hearth Creations Single Panel Bowed Screen with Perforated Mesh. Can also be made by Stone Manufacturing with Heavy Gauge Mesh.
Boston Spark Guard
Boston Spark Guard Option #6: Large Boston Spark Guard. This is very much like your current screen, but larger. These screens are more easily dented than others, but are common for large Colonial style fireplaces.
Screen Door
Screen Door Option #7: Hearth Creations Free Standing Screen Door. This will come with clamps to hold the top to the fireplace so it does not tip over when opened.
Nursery Fender
Nursery Fender Fireplace Screen Option #8: Stone Manufacturing NF-1 Nursery Fender Fireplace Screen. The top and bottom are made from solid brass painted black.

High End Wrought Iron

These screens are all hand forged by a blacksmith. Very high end and quite expensive.

Wrought Iron
Wrought Iron Mesh Doors Option #12: Hand Crafted Wrought Iron Mesh Doors. These doors are heavy duty and made for large fireplaces.
Wrought Iron
Wrought Iron Mesh Doors Option #13: Hand Crafted Wrought Iron Glass Doors with Mesh Curtains. These doors can be made with tempered glass or ceramic glass.

Tempered vs Ceramic Glass: Tempered glass can handle sustained temperatures up to about 450F without breaking from heat and should be at least 8” from the flames. Ceramic glass can handle temperatures up to about 1450F and can have direct contact with the flames. If you wish to burn fires with the doors closed, I highly recommend upgrading to ceramic glass.

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
