Customer Comments: Actual opening of the fireplace is width 43.5" by height 43". The overall opening is 50" by 50". This is a formal great room and the screen should be a high end brass/gold finish.

Our Comments: Below are a couple examples illustrating the initial concept for the treament I recommend. I have included a measuring diagram along with instructdions for creating a template along with other resources for the materials that can be used to create a custom screen.

How To Make a Template of the Fireplace Opening

1. Tape a piece of heavy plastic to the opening
2. Pull it tight so there are no wrinkles
3. Make sure the bottom is exactly even with the hearth
4. Trace the shape of the arch with a fine tip marker
5. Use a straght edge to help draw the vertical lines
6. If you make a mistake on the line, make a note with a line pointing to the correct mark
7. Mark the template "Outside Looking In"
8. We will provide further instructions for additional info to mark on the template along with a shipping address

Glass Door Mesh Options

If you are planning on burning anything in your fireplace, you need to have mesh behind the glass so you can burn a fire with the doors open. You can chooe between gate mesh backup doors and sliding mesh curtains. Functionally, gate mesh performs the best as the wire has smaller holes that sparks cannot get through. Aesthetically, mesh curtains may be preferred because they do not have a vertical center frame that obstructs the view of the fire. When you are not using the fire or you want a complete unobstructed view, they do not stick out like gate mesh doors when they are opened.

We are showing these options on a flat steel bifold door with a satin brass overlay and gray glass.
