Custom Screen Ideas for 40 foot wide outdoor gas fireplace - Project #21213

Customer Comments: Leaves are getting into the gas fire feature and sparks are flying out when the fire is lit and landing on the chair cusions. Need some sort of screen to prevent this from recurring.

Our Comments: Below are 3 concepts that I am proposing for this application based on our dicussion over the phone. Hopefully, one of these will work for you.

Fireplace Opening: 480" (40 feet) W x 18" H

Before
Before:

Mesh Curtains

These high-end screens have a special "Track and Roller System" designed for wide outdoor fireplace applications. The I-Beam allows the curtains to span over large widths without a curtain rod that sags and causes the mesh to drag. The bottom bar has a Pet Deterrent Channel that the mesh hangs in to prevent it from being pushed in or pulled out. This will keep leaves and other things from blowing into the fireplace and help eliminate the issue with sparks flying out. The top and bottom bar are unlacquered solid brass, the I-Beam is alumininum and the mesh curtains and other hardware stainless steel.

This would incorporate (5) 8 foot sections to span the entire width of the fireplace.

Hidden Hinge Mesh Doors

These special outdoor wire mesh cabinet doors have are made from a solid brass angle iron frame solid brass doors that have hidden hinges for a minimal appearance. All hardware is either solid brass or stainless steel. The wire mesh is stainless steel painted black.

This would incorporate (5) 8 foot sections to span the entire width of the fireplace.

Multiple Wire Mesh Screens

This is one of the concepts we discussed over the phone. This would incorporate an upper and lower channel with individual framed wire mesh screens that can be lifted into the channel. They can be picked up and pulled out of the channel, somewhat like a window screen.I am proposing the channels be made from unlacquered solid brass and the screens made from stainless steel painted black so they are somewhat inconspicuous. They can also be made from unfinished brass, which will look more like Option #2 above.

This would incorporate (5) 8 foot sections to span the entire width of the fireplace.

I-Beam Track and Roller System

The High-End I-Beam Track and Roller system is superior to the typical bar and mesh that uses a steel curtain rod. The I-Beam is made from rigid aluminum that does not sag or rust. The rollers do not bind like typical mesh curtains, and the mesh will never drag from a curtain rod that starts to sag over the years. Instead, the mesh curtains glide smoothly on their track with a silky-luxurious feel. This system also allows screens to be made for very large fireplaces, where a typical curtain rod will not work.

Note: The actual product might vary from the above picture depending on the screen you order, but the concept is the same when an I-Beam is used.
